The Africa Food Abundance Fund is an international program of Mount Hope, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Hope, Michigan. It is dedicated to helping people in Africa to produce food in such abundance that they are able to feed not only themselves, but also their neighbors.
The primary objective of the Africa Food Abundance Fund (AFAF) is to support and participate in the development of materials that utilize sustainable products that result in improvements in communities, agricultural practices, economies and the environment, at both local and national levels.
The AFAF purchases natural, sustainable, biodegradable, renewable materials that are procured, processed, formulated and applied in Africa.
AFAF coordinates studies aimed at local community, economic and nutritional development. Certain locally available materials may be used to increase the yields, reduce the need for synthetic inputs, build up the soil, and create economic opportunity at the village level in Africa.
The Need: Hunger in Africa

In West Africa, the average village food production capacity is only able to provide about 50-75% of the daily caloric need of that village. These villages require supplementation of their nutritional needs in order to survive. If the harvest is poor, people go hungry and can die of starvation. There is a real sense of urgency among the village leaders and families to secure natural, safe and effective methods of increasing their harvests each year.
